Bird Protect\u2122 is an advanced bird detection and deterrence system designed specifically to protect these impressive creatures from collisions with wind turbines. Using high-definition cameras mounted at a height of about 10 meters, this system scans the skies around the wind farm to identify birds. The captured images are processed using machine-learning algorithms that specialize in differentiating birds from other moving objects, such as airplanes and clouds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each wind turbine is equipped with four innovative stainless steel (316) boxes, attached to the tower with high-quality neodymium magnets, featuring a santoprene protective coating. These boxes contain 8-megapixel super starlight cameras capable of effectively monitoring air traffic. Upon detecting a bird, the system analyzes its trajectory to assess the risk it poses to the wind turbine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The moment the bird enters the deterrence zone \u2013 a specific region around the turbine where the risk of collision with the blades is increased \u2013 the system emits an unpleasant sound, intended to make it change its flight direction. If the bird persists in approaching the wind turbine, the system will shut down the turbine until the bird leaves the danger zone. This preventive measure is essential to protect both birds and turbines, avoiding collisions that could be fatal for birds and cause damage to the equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the bird leaves the risk zone, the turbine can be restarted, and monitoring continues. Bird Protect\u2122 thus presents itself as an innovative solution, harmonizing modern technology with environmental protection, contributing to reducing the risk of collisions and promoting safe coexistence between birds and wind turbines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
